JAMMU, Jan 1: Canal Road Police solved a theft case with the arrest of accused along with stolen gold ornaments.
As per police sources, a complainant namely Ankur Gupta, son of Bishan Gupta of Krishna Nagar District Jammu filed a written complaint at Police Post Canal Road stating that on December 29 last year some unknown thief entered his house in broad daylight at about 2 pm and stole Rs 40000 cash and gold ornaments weighing around 7 to 8 tolas.
Acting over the complaint, a case FIR Number 1/2022 under Sections 454 and 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Police Post Canal Road led by PSI Ishfaq Kasana was constituted under the supervision of SHO Nowabad Inspector Rajesh Khajuria and DySP Headquarters Jammu Swati Sharma.
The team did strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV cameras footages of the area finally arrested the thief, who was identified as Sahil Mashi alias Bata, son of Arshad Mashi of Ustad Mohalla District Jammu.
On his disclosure, stolen gold ornaments weighing around 7 to 8 tolas worth Rs 2 to Rs 2.50 lakh was recovered.
Further questioning of the arrested thief is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
The overall arrest and recoveries were made under the supervision of SP City North Kulbir Handa.
