Govt forms Task Force(s) for elimination of Single Use Plastic

JAMMU, Dec 24: For monitoring and elimination of Single Use Plastic, the UT Government today ordered constitution of two City Level Task Force(s) for Jammu and Srinagar cities.
The City Level Task force for Jammu, headed by the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, shall be comprising Additional District Magistrate Jammu and District Officer, J&K Pollution Control Committee, Jammu as the Members and Secretary JMC as Convener.
Similarly, the City Level Task Force for Srinagar, headed by Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, shall be comprising Additional District Magistrate Srinagar and District Officer J&K Pollution Control board as the Members and Secretary SMC as the Convener.
The Task Force(s) shall mobilize and build a strong public movement for elimination of Single Use Plastic with wider public participation, including educational institutions (schools, colleges, universities, etc), NCC, NSS, Scouts, Youth Club, Eco Clubs, Opinion Makers and voluntary organizations.
Besides enforcing Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, the Task Force(s) shall encourage and promote manufacture and usuage of eco-friendly biodegradable substitutes for Single Use Plastic.
