SRINAGAR, Dec 14: Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) J&K today held a meeting in which various issues were discussed. The meeting, in the absence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was presided over by Mufti Nazir Ahmad Qasmi.
During the meeting, which was attended by several religious bodies, it was proposed to form a sub-committee under the MMU to address key issues faced by the society.
As per the resolution presented in the meeting, serious concern was expressed over Saudi Arabia banning Tablighi Jamaat and called upon the Govt of Saudi Arabia to reconsider its decision.
The MMU, during the meeting, expressed concern and resentment over the blasphemous content published by a Delhi-based publisher and said that from time to time “conspiracies have been hatched against Islam, the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) and the Holy Qur’an.”
MMU members in the meeting emphasized that the need of the hour is to focus on the fundamental teachings and principles of Islam.
The meeting expressed concern and sorrow over the recent “scandal of sale and purchase of Covid orphans” by some unscrupulous people and condemned it by calling it “extremely shameful and inhuman”.
The MMU also requested the responsible persons of the reputed orphanages in J&K to take all possible steps for the bright future of the orphans in their respective institutions.
The participants also protested against the closure of historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar by the authorities for Friday prayers and expressed strong resentment over the continuous incarceration of Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema chief Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq.
