JAMMU, Nov 18: Continuing his drive to provide better development & civic amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu along with Surinder Chowdhary Councillor of Ward No.29 today kick started the construction work of shed and other allied works within the premises of Shamshan Ghat (Shanti Ghat), Shakti Nagar Jammu situated in Ward No.33. Nasseb Raj, Rajinder Singh, Krishan Verma, Balvinder Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Karan Kumar and other prominent inhabitants of Shakti Nagar and its adjoining localities were also present there during the tour.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that large number of people from Shakti Nagar, Rajpura, Shiv Nagar, Bakshi Nagar, Talab Tillo and other adjoining localities come to this place to attend the last rites of the people and in order to provide best possible amenities such as water, proper sitting arrangements and various such other facilities there is urgent need of suitable shed as during rainy and hot weather season the people were facing many hardships. He said with the sincere efforts the concerned Engineering Wing, JMC has started the construction work of the Shed with an estimate amount of Rs 25 Lakh.
He further said that JMC has already released sufficient funds for each ward to upgrade the cremation grounds, graveyards, Shishu Samadhia, Tutian etc. Besides, Mayor along with Surinder Chowdhary, Councillor of Ward No.29 also kick started the much needed blacktopping works in Lane No.29, Rajpura of Ward No.29 with an allotted amount of Rs.7 lakh. After starting the macamadization work, Mayor said that it was the long pending demand of the locals as due to deteriorated condition of the Lane No.29 in Rajpura, the passers by were suffering a lot as it is a thorough fare and sometimes children and old persons get themselves injured while crossing the lane.
Suresh Gupta, Rajinder Saini, Ganesh Kumar, Mohit Sharma, Nitesh Kumar and other prominent inhabitants as well as Ashish Bhasin, Assistant Executive Engineer along with other supervisory staff of Division-II were present there during the tour.
