JAMMU, Nov 11: Different educational institutions here today remembered Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, 1st Education Minister of India and organized different programmes to celebrate National Education Day.
National Education Day was celebrated by the Institute of Music and Fine Arts, University of Jammu with great enthusiasm and zeal. The function was presided over by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, principal Institute of Music and Fine Arts. Various speakers highlighted the importance of the Day and also threw light on the contributions of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, 1st Education Minister of India in the field of education, politics and literature. Rakesh Sharma, HOD Applied Arts, Dr. Priya Dutta, HOD Music and others paid tributes to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
Government College of Education Jammu also remembered the first Education Minister of India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on his birth anniversary.
On the occasion, the NSS unit of the GCOE organised a symposium on the topic “Development in the field of Education after Independence”. The event was chaired by Prabhjot Kour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal of GCOE said, “We all should work together to realize the dream of Abul Kalam Azad and use modern-day technological innovations in fulfilling demands of higher education in the country”.
The students participated in the competition enthusiastically and made the event more meaningful and significant. The participating students expressed their thoughts on the contribution of Maulana Azad through their poetry.
The program was adroitly conducted by Dr. Shubhra Jamwal along with Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Shapia Shameem Bhatti, and Prof. Seema Kumari.
The jury was comprised of Prof. K.K. Mangotra, Prof. Radhika Mahajan, and Dr. Tahira Shah. Winners will be declared on the official website of GCOE by 13th of November 2021.
The program ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shubhra Jamwal the convener of the Organizing Committee.
Government Degree College (GDC), Marh organized an online symposium on National Education Day to mark the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad—first Education Minister of independent India. The symposium was held under the guidance of GDC Principal, Prof. Aekta Gupta who stressed upon the importance of education and importance of online classes in the present time for students and teachers.
An online lecture was organized by GDC R.S Pura on the theme National Education Day to celebrate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a great freedom fighter, an eminent educationist. The programme was held under the supervision of Principal Prof. Sunil Uppal wherein Dr. Shivani Sharma, Assistant Professor GDC Paloura was resource person and she highlighted the contribution of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in the field of education.
NSS Unit along with EBSB Club of GDC R.S Pura celebrated National Education Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. About 20 students participated in the event and visited slum area near Railway track, R.S Pura and taught the children there to read and write English and Hindi alphabets.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, NSS unit of GDC Kathua organized an Essay Writing competition on National Education Day. The topic of the essay writing competition was ‘Role of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in Indian Freedom Struggle and in the Field of Education.’
GDC Ukhral celebrated National Education Day to mark the birth anniversary of India’s first Education Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The patron of the College, Dr. Ranvijay Singh, spoke about the contribution of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in education and other fields.
On National Education Day, GDC Vijaypur organized a webinar on ‘Emerging Landscape in Higher Education and commemorated the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan said, every individual has right to education and when each one of us teaches one, then every child will be an educated child.
GDC Basohli organized an online lecture on National Education Day under the guidance of Dr. Nidhi Kotwal, GDC Basohli Principal. Dr. R.K Manhas, Assistant Professor in the College was the resource person and he delivered a lecture on ‘Role of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad viz-a-viz Education System in India.’
National Education Day was celebrated in GDC Kalakote under the aegis of ‘Azadi ka Mahotsav’ and under the guidance of Prof. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal GDC Kalakote. A poetry recitation competition was organized on this occasion.
GDC Thannamandi celebrated National Education Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Principal of the College, Prof. Javaid Ahmed Qazi presided the function in which a symposium was organized.
GDC Ramnagar organized a lecture to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The programme began with welcome address by the Principal, Dr. Udhey Bhanu who threw light on the role of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, first Education Minister of India vis-à-vis women education.
On National Education Day, NSS unit of GDC, Jindrah in collaboration with Duggar Manch and Department of Dogri of the GDC organized a Kavi Ghosthi in the memory of Padamshree Padma Sachdev, a renowned Dogri Poet and Writer.
On National Education Day, National Students Union of India launched a campaign to oppose anti-student policies of the Government. AICC communications secretary, Dr. Vineet Punia and NSUI national president, Neeraj Kundan said, “NSUI opposes New Education Policy (NEP).” He claimed that NEP will weaken the base of student education.
