Budding filmmaker makes J&K proud in Chambal International Film Festival

JAMMU, Oct 16: Shekhar Sharma, a young talented filmmaker from Jammu city won an award for short film ‘Hum Honge Kaamyab’ at Chambal International Film Festival (Season 4) held recently at Kota, Rajasthan.
A total of 54 countries participated in the Festival and 701 short films were nominated for this competition. Three short films namely ‘Hum Honge Kaamyab’, ‘Smoke free’ and ‘Be a hope’ were nominated whereas Shekhar won “Festivals Special Mention Award” for ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’. The artists who worked in this short film are Divyanshu Bhagat, Sachin Saini, Susheel Raina, Abhay Pandoh, Anchita Mishra, Shivam Singh.
‘Hum Honge Kamyaab’ is a beautiful story about two friends with different goals in life; one aspires to move abroad for settlement whereas the other seems happy in India. Both meet each other after a span of 10 years and compare the pollution scenario outside India versus India and come to conclusion that the responsibility to save environment lies in existing generation.
In another Media Festival organized by Chandigarh University, one of his short films namely ‘Short Free’ was awarded. In 2018, the same short film was also nominated in 4th edition of Kashmir World Film Festival, TFT Theatre Festival in Chandigarh and First off Film maker session 2019, U K of his photoshoot was published in ‘CHIIZ’ magazine of photography of US in 2019.
Shekhar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Chandigarh University and is pursuing Master’s degree in the same from Central University of Jammu. He has attended workshops of cinematographing organized by Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune in 2018.
