JAMMU, July 13: Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DFSS) today took out a procession against the steep hike in prices of vegetables.
The activists of DFSS led by its president, Ashok Gupta assembled at Rani Park here and then took out a procession amid anti-Government slogans, which concluded at City Chowk.
Addressing the activists, Ashok Gupta said that UPA 2 in its election manifesto has made commitment to the people of the country to provide food items at a very nominal rate, but in the month of June this year, things have happened entirely the opposite way with the prices of vegetables touching sky high.
Attributing the price rise to the faulty economic policy of the UPA Government, Gupta said that the foodgrains worth Rs 58000 crore were rotting every year in the godowns of the country, but the UPA Government had taken no steps to use them, instead it allowed them to rot so that those could be sold by them to liquor distilleries on higher rates.
