JAMMU, Oct 3: A Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop on Indian Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program-First Golden Minute (IAP-NRP-FGM) was conducted in the Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital Jammu.
Dr Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent SMGS Hospital was the chief guest on this occasion. Dr G S Saini, HoD Pediatrics and President IAP J&K State Branch delivered the welcome address and apprised the delegates regarding importance of this program in reducing the neonatal mortality rate in our country.
Senior Pediatrician and State Academic Coordinator for this program, Dr S S Slathia was the Chief Course Coordinator for this workshop. Other Faculty members for this workshop included Dr Surender Singh Bisht from New Delhi who is North India Zonal Coordinator and regional trainer for IAP-NRP-FGM program, Dr K R Sangra Senior Pediatrician and regional trainer and Dr Sanjeev Kumar Digra Professor Pediatrics, regional trainer and lead instructor for this workshop.
21 Pediatricians from various parts of Jammu Province i.e Poonch, Doda, Udhampur, Billawar and Jammu participated as delegates in this workshop. IAP has a mission to have “Skilled Birth Attendant” at every delivery throughout India including Jammu & Kashmir.
Now Jammu has sufficient number of trainers from every district who will be training all the Medical and Paramedical staff associated with deliveries at their respective places. This will help in further lowering the neonatal morbidity and mortality in UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
Other prominent Pediatricians present on this occasion were Dr Ravinder K Gupta, HoD Pediatrics ASCOMS and Dr R S Manhas, Ex HoD Pediatrics GMC Doda.
