BHADERWAH, July 12: People today staged massive protest demonstration over unscheduled power cuts during the Holy month of Ramadhan and disrupted vehicular traffic for hours in front of Jama Masjid.
Soon after the Friday prayers, large number of people started protest demonstration against the SDM Bhaderwah and Assistant Executive Engineer of the Power Development Department for their failure to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Holy month of Ramadhan.
“On one side, Power Development Department is increasing tariff and on the other side resorting to power cuts for hours together”, the agitating people said. “Despite repeated requests prior to start of Holy month of Ramadhan, the PDD has failed to ensure electricity supply even during the time of special prayers and Sehri”, president of Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah said.
Alleging that nobody was ready to listen to their problem, the agitating people said, “we have been left with no other option but to stage protest to bring out voice to the notice of administration”, adding “despite making assurances the administration has failed to avoid load shedding in the month of Ramadhan”.
Amidst slogans against the administration, the agitating people disrupted the vehicular movement for hours together. The protest demonstration came to end after the administration assured them to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply particular during morning and evening hours.
