Jammu, Aug 23: A simple but impressive program was held at Thathri today under the ageis of Social Welfare Department. The programme was attended by DDC Thathri Member Sandeep Singh Manhas along with Chairman Municipal Committee Thathri Mansoor Ahmed and TSWO Subash Kotwal in which 37 beneficiaries were identified and provided with different aids and equipments.
The beneficiaries were provided with wheel chairs, hearing aid, clipper, smart cans, crutches and artificial limbs among others.
A scheme of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (GoI) in collaboration with ALIMCO Mohali and Department of Social Walfare J&K has proved a boon to the disables, Manhas said.
The DDC Thathri Member emphasized that such programs should be held at regular intervals and not only in urban but rural areas should also be covered under such schemes.
