JAMMU, Aug 19: A deputation of All J&K Gaddi Sabha led by Parveen Jaryal, Sabha president called on Dr. Vikas Mahatme, MP Rajya Sabha and member of the 15 member Parliamentary Committee (PC) on Subordinate Legislation at Srinagar.
The deputation apprised Mahatme about grievances of the tribal communities of J&K before and after the abrogation of Article 370.
The deputation also raised various demands like constitution of a common Tribal Development Board in J&K on the pattern of other States, giving political reservation to Gaddi-Sippi tribes in Assembly constituencies on the basis of their population, establishment of a Tribal Research Institute at Udhampur, Kathua or Bhaderwah and sanctioning of Gaddi-Sippi Hostels at Bani, Billawar, Kathua, Jammu, Ramnagar, Chenani, Ramban and Bhaderwah on the pattern of Gujjar-Bakerwal Hostels.
Issue of discrimination with members of Gaddi-Sippi tribes was also raised along with the demand of extending various schemes meant for tribal people in J&K to these tribes.
Dr. Mahatme assured that he would present the demands raised by the deputation before Chairman of the Committee for onward submission to the concerned quarters.
