KATHUA, Aug 16: The body of missing Pilot of ALH Dhruv, Lt Col A S Baath which crashed into Ranjit Sagar Dam in Basholi Kathua on August 3 was fished out from the Dam yesterday evening by the multi agency divers of Navy and Indian Army.
As per sources, the body was recovered at the depth of 75.9 metre in the Dam yesterday evening after the hectic efforts for about 13 days by the divers. The body of pilot has been shifted to Pathankot Army Hospital in Punjab where from it will be flown to his native city Amritsar by the army tomorrow. The Pilot belongs to Amritsar, Punjab and his last rites will also be performed tomorrow.
It may be recalled that Army’s Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) had crashed into Ranjit Sagar Dam at Basholi on August 3 with pilot and co-pilot on board. Since then the search operations were going on by divers of multi agencies which had located the debris of the chopper and belongings of pilot and co pilot including one helmet , two Pitho bags and one pair of shoes which were seen floating on the dam waters in the evening of August 3.
The body of Pilot was recovered after 13 days while the operation for locating the body of another Pilot is still on.
