JAMMU, Aug 12: The statement of National Conference (NC) general secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar, during addressing party functionaries at Srinagar, that there is no alternative of their party and the NC is the only party that truly represents the aspirations of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, is nothing but an attempt to mislead the people.
This was stated by Jammu & Kashmir BJP spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, while terming this claim as outburst of frustration among NC leaders, who had no concern for Jammu and Ladakh during the times when their party was in power for decades under one family.
Balbir Ram Rattan said that how much NC represents all the three regions can be well judged from the results of District Development Council (DDC) elections, wherein it utterly failed to garner public support in favour of its candidates and had to face humiliating defeat.
If, for a moment, one accepts false claims of NC leaders and trusts this party being popular in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, still they need to explain as to why NC had to join Gupkar Alliance, instead of maintaining its separate political identity, Balbir questioned and appealed the people not to trust this party any more.
The BJP spokesperson further said that it is never late to mend and that NC leaders should stop living in past and wake up to accept ground realities which are against the dynastic party.
Balbir said that gone are the days of emotional politics, wherein NC used to garner public support on the slogans of Autonomy and Article-370 and today both have lost relevance, which is a reality. They should also stop day dreaming of coming back to power in future by misleading the present day people, who are more informed and well understand the politics of opportunism.
Balbir asked the NC leaders to update themselves that it is, in fact, BJP which has its strong support base in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and it is due to party’s basic mantra of taking all together in all matters and at all levels, irrespective of region, religion, caste or gender, called “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas Sabka Vishwas”.
