UDHAMPUR, Aug 11: National Panthers Party (NPP) today staged a protest demonstration against the concerned authorities for having failed to repair the Barmeen-Ghordi road.
Addressing protesters Harsh Dev Singh, NPP chairman claimed that Government has cheated the people of Ghordi Block on the names of double lanning of Kaldi.
He said the concerned authorities of PWD and the elected representatives of the area are responsible for not ensuring proper repairs of Barmeen-Ghordi road. The NPP leader also said that the extremely pathetic condition of the bumpy road which is full of potholes is posing risk to commuters and other vehicles using this road.
He said several accidents on this road have failed to awaken the Government functionaries to repair it.
“Even dozens of complaints to the concerned officers have failed to trigger action on the road,” Singh maintained.
He referred to the statement of Union Surface Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari in Ghordi village in 2014 wherein the Minister had assured early construction of double lane on Kaldi Barmeen-Ghordi-Ramnagar road.
Harsh regretted that rather than constructing the double lane, the Government has failed even to keep the existing single road in trafficable condition.
“The contractor who was assigned the upkeep and up-gradation of the road in 2017-18 has abandoned the work two years back,” he maintained adding that no action has been taken against the executing agency.
