Samba police rescues 8 bovines, arrests smugglers

SAMBA, Aug 8: District police Samba foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine by rescuing eight bovines with the arrest of four animal smugglers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba.
Acting on reliable information regarding the transportation of bovines, a police party of Police Post Mansar while performing vehicle checking duty on Samba-Mansar road near BinduPada, signaled two vehicles one Mahindra Bolero load carrier bearing Registration Number, JK21D-0643 and other Tata Mobile, 207 bearing Registration Number JK14F-1758 moving towards Valley via Mansar-Udhampur road to stop.
However they ignored the signal and tried to fled away. The Naka Party intercepted both the vehicles few meters away from the Naka point while the drivers tried to escape from the spot.
During checking of both the vehicles, a total eight bovines (four in each vehicle) were found laden inside without any permission. The accused driver of vehicle number JK21D-0643 has been identified as Satnam Singh, son of Nirmal Singh of Shree Partap Singh Pura Tehsil, Ramgarh district Samba along with his associate Mohamamd Farid, son of Younis of Bindla tehsil Ramnagar, Udhampur and driver of vehicle number JK14F-1758, Shakeel Ahmed son of Nawab Din of Rathian tehsil and district Udhampur along with his associate Qasim, son of Barkat Ali of Rathian, Udhampur were arrested and the vehicles used for transporting the bovines were also seized on the spot. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to a safer place.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 248/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba and investigation started.
