JAMMU, June 8: People in various localities of Jammu today expressed their strong resentment against the Power Development Department (PDD) for electricity failure in the city and its outskirts since yesterday evening.
The power failure has further worsened the condition of COVID patients who are in home quarantine at various places in the city and its outskirts especially those dependent on Oxygen concentrators. This office received many phone calls from Janipur, New Plots, Roop Nagar, Durga Nagar, Gole Gujral, Talab Tillo, Muthi and other areas with people showing their grave resentment over the power crisis in this hot Summer.
They said that on the one hand the PDD is charging hefty bills from the consumers and on the other hand they fail to maintain round the clock power supply as was promised by the Government.
Roshan Lal president Durga Nagar Welfare Committee said that the Government is supposed to maintain the power supply round the clock in view of the present COVID Pandemic as many patients are still home quarantined and hence they need power supply for the concentrators which are a life support for them. He said that despite the repeated pleas to the authorities by the Welfare Committee it failed to ensure the power supply.
Same has been the views of Karan Singh of Ajit Colony, Gole Gujral. He said that the people are facing acute power crisis nowadays with PDD authorities not taking any step to solve the problem. He said when the Department is collecting the hefty tariff from the consumers it is duty bound to supply round the clock power to them which it has failed to do.
He warned that people will come to streets in case the problem was not solved immediately.
