Rs 2.58 lakh recovered from beggar

RAJOURI, June 1: The currency notes and chillers worth Rs 2,58,507 were recovered from a woman beggar at Nowshera town today.
Official sources said that during cleanliness drive by the Municipal Committee authorities in Nowshera town, the officials tried to shift a 26-year-old non-local lady beggar from a hut near Animal Husbandry office in the town to Nari Niketan/ Observation Home, being run by SWD. This unknown beggar who used to beg in Bus Stand area and main market in the town for the last several years was reluctant to leave her hut.
When the officials tried to forcibly shift her to Home, they found many polythene bags filled with currency notes and chillers in the hut. They informed EO and then ADC Nowshera. The officials in presence of Tehsildar counted the currency which was amounting to Rs 2.58 lakh. An investigation has been launched into the matter by the Administration.
