SRINAGAR, June 1: “Assalamu Alaikum Modi sab” were the initial words of a 6-years-old girl who has now become a social media sensation overnight after her viral video in which she is talking about the burden of over-stretched online classes being held by schools because of the COVID pandemic.
As the video, which she has shot at her home while she would have been playing around, Mairoo Irfan of Maharaj Pora, Batamaloo area of Srinagar was trying to explain the ordeal of the arduous, and tiring online classes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in her peculiar way-trying to put on weight to every word she spoke.
“This is too much work and is only meant for the elder kids; why do teachers burden small kids of 6 years of age; when I get up in the morning, I have to attend the online classes from 10 am to 2 pm” she could be heard saying in the video which has been shared thousands of times now.
During an exclusive chit-chat of team Excelsior with Mairo, she kept saying that once the classes are done, she gets busy with the homework and does not get any free time during which she could play, while underlining that ‘khelne ka bhi time hona chahiye.’
“After classes from 10- 2 are over then homework and there is no free time left,” she said.
When asked about how she could make the video at such a small age, she laughed it off and said: “I took the phone and opened the camera, and took the video and that’s it and started with Asalamalaikum Modi sahib. Simple!!!” she said.
It is to be noted that stories are running on Mairoo all over the national media including the local media in J&K. Also after the video went viral, LG Manoj Sinha also took note of it.
In a Tweet, LG’s Office wrote: “Very adorable complaint. Have directed the School Education department to come out with a policy within 48 hours to lighten the burden of homework on school kids. Childhood innocence is the gift of God and their days should be lively, full of joy and bliss.”
