Session on ‘Impact of COVID-19 on physical & mental health’ held

KATHUA, June 1: Government Degree College (GDC) Mahanpur today organized an online inter-college UT level interactive session for students on the topic ‘Impact of COVID-19 on physical and mental health’.
The programme was organized by College Library team, headed by Saurabh Dutta (Librarian) in collaboration with IQAC Cell of the College. The programme was inaugurated by College Principal Dr. R K Koul, whereas the welcome address was presented by Dr Balbinder Singh (Physical Director) and the proceeding of the programme was conducted by Prof Arvind Kumar.
Dr Sachin Fotra, Medical Officer Sub District Hospital Parole, Kathua (In-charge Nodal Officer Lakhanpur COVID-19 Management) was the invited speaker on the occasion. He talked about the concern of the students and public like stress, anxiety and depression besides other issues related to COVID-19.
The speaker also explained in detail about SARS, COVID-19, seven types of corona viruses, MERS, the effectiveness of antibiotics, symptoms of Corona, risk factors like-Chronic Kidney diseases/COPD/ High Blood Pressure/ Diabetic etc.
Dr Sachin Fotra emphasized on reading books, listening to music and having positive thoughts to relax the mind and body. He also explained statistics death toll, recovery rate and fatality rate of COVID patients during the session.
Dr Manohar Lal, Principal GDC Banihal, Dr Karan Singh, HoD Physics MAM College and Anil K Raina Director NIELIT Jammu were among the prominents who participated in the session along with students from MAM College, GGM Science College Jammu and GDC Mahanpur.
The other members of organizing committee were Dr Munisha Devi, Dr Parshotam Dass, Dr Neetika Verma, Prof Anu Sharma, Prof Naresh Kumar and Dr Hilal Ahmed, whereas the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Sapna Devi.
