2 drug peddlers arrested with cannabis, intoxicant tablets

JAMMU, May 24: Janipur and Kishtwar Police arrested two drug peddlers along with cannabis and intoxicant tablets.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Janipur led by SHO Inspector Nayat Ali laid a naka at Paloura Chowk and intercepted a person, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 300 grams cannabis from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Mohammad Farooq, son of late Qamir Din, a resident of District Reasi.
A case under FIR Number 68/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Kishtwar led by SHO Inspector Abid Bukhari under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kishtwar Devindar Singh laid a special naka at Om Mehta Road and apprehended a drug peddler along with 120 intoxicant tablets.
The accused was identified as Muzaffar Hussain, son of Mehraj Din, a resident of Kishtwar.
A case under FIR Number 108/2021 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation initiated.
SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Batt has appealed to the general public especially youths of district Kishtwar to come forward with information regarding drug peddlers and smugglers so that the menace of drugs can be stopped.
