UDHAMPUR, May 12: Police today rescued 18 bovine animals and arrested five smugglers for illegally transporting these animals.
A team of cops led by Inspector Chanchal Singh, SHO Police Station Udhampur laid a Naka at Jakhani Chowk wherein during vehicle checking they intercepted two bovine smugglers trying to smuggle six bovine animals illegally towards Kashmir on a vehicle bearing number JK14D-4503.
All bovine animals were rescued and bovine smuggler Mohd Sarbar son of Mohd Shafi of Gole Mela Udhampur and Showkat Ali son of Mohd Iqbal of Verinaag, Anantnag were arrested.
In this connection a case U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and investigation started.
Meanwhile, during the checking of vehicles at Kud Naka, Inspector Arun Koul, SHO Police Station Kud stopped two vehicles of TATA Mobile make with registration number JK02CG-9128 and HR45C-1532 for checking and found 12 bovine animals loaded in these vehicles without any valid permission.
All the bovine animals were rescued and the three bovine smugglers Nazir Ahmed son of Gulab Din of Kanga Ramban (driver); Shabir Ahmed son of Abdul Latief of Chanderkot Ramban and Showkat Ahmed son of Gh. Mohd Bumla of Dooru Anantnag (driver) were arrested.
In this regards, two cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Kud and investigation started.
