JAMMU, Apr 24: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray J&K unit has said that demands of transporters are genuine and passenger fare should be hiked and the government should provide immediate financial help to transporters in this hour of crisis.
In a press conference here today J&K Shiv Sena president, Manish Sahni said, in view of the SOPs providing cap on number of passengers to be carried in minibuses, the demands of transporters are fully justified.
He said that majority of these vehicles have been purchased on bank loans.
Sahni said, though Corona crisis has affected everyone financially, the transporters are worst hit by it and if they continue to provide their services to limited number of passengers with existing fares, their problems will increase manifolds.
He also said that the transporters are forced for strike due to which common people are facing a lot of difficulties.
Sahni appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to provide financial help to transporters in the same way as was provided by the government of Maharashtra under the leadership of Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray.
