40 people challaned for violating COVID guidelines

KATHUA, Apr22: To put in practice the guidelines of the UT administration to contain the spread of deadly COVID Pandemic, Kathua police has acted tough against the defaulters violating the SOPs within the district.
In this connection 40 people who were found dereliction of COVID guidelines and SOPs were challaned by the police and a total fine amounting to Rs.18,800 was collected as a penalty from the violators.
In addition, one FIR was also lodged in Police Station Kathua for the violation of the order of DM without keeping in view the schedule of the opening of the shops.
Kathua police once again appealed the travelers coming from outside into J&K UT and public of the district to strictly follow all the COVID safety guidelines and precautions in letter and spirit.
SSP Kathua, Romesh Chander Kotwal said in view of the alarming situation taken by the deadly virus across the world, the people must follow the guidelines for their own safety and the safety of others in the society. He said the precautions and collective efforts are the only tool with which the dreaded virus can be defeated. He also sought the cooperation of the people in this regard and warned that any one found violating the guidelines will be strictly dealt under the law.
