Srinagar, Apr 19: After several days of rain, weather improved in Kashmir today giving relief to the people from intense cold weather conditions. The improvement, however, is brief as the weatherman has again forecast light rains in the next few days.
A Meteorological Department official said here that scattered light rain and thundershowers are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday besides widespread rain on April 23 and isolated showers on April 24.
The MeT official said that Srinagar received 9.6mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours till 8:30 a.m., while it recorded a low of 7.6 Degree Celsius temperature against 7.8 Degree Celsius the previous night.
Qazigund received 4.0mm of rain during the time and recorded a low of 7.4 Degree Celsius against previous night’s 7.6 Degree Celsius.
Pahalgam received 16.7mm of rain during the time while it recorded a low of 1.4 Degree Celsius against 3.4 Degree Celsius the previous night.
Kokernag received 4.8mm of rain and recorded a low of 4.8 Degree Celsius against previous night’s 5.1 Degree Celsius.
Kupwara received 8.0mm of rain and recorded a low of 4.8 Degree Celsius against 5.7 Degree Celsius the previous night.
Gulmarg received 7.0mm of rain during the time and recorded a low of minus 0.6 Degree Celsius against 0.4 Degree Celsius the previous night which was below 2.9 Degree Celsius than the normal for the area.
