JAMMU, Mar 24: Akhnoor and Katra Police foiled bovines smuggling bids.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Akhnoor intercepted two Mahindra load carriers bearing registration numbers JK12A-3919 and JK02BM-4852.
During checking, police team rescued 7 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested four persons, who were identified as Sajad Hussain, son of Sahib Hussain of District Poonch, Jyoti Prakash, son of Madan Lal of Thandapani, Daleep Singh, son of Babu Ram of Ambaran Tehsil Akhnoor and Madan Lal, son of Amarnath of Rah Salyote Tehsil Chowki Choura.
Cases under FIR Numbers 79/2021 and 80/2021 have been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Parihar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Katra during checking at PCP Balani signalled a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK19-3730.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to kill the police officials on naka. Police party chased and caught the vehicle at village Dhanouri, but driver of the vehicle escaped from spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
Police team rescued 8 bovine animals which were loaded in said vehicle in cruel manner.
A case under FIR Number 55/2021 under Sections 307 and 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and search of accused has been launched.
