The Vice President of the Front, Muhammad Rafiq Malik and Vice-Chairman Gulzar Ahmad Chopan said that the NPS is anti-employee and it mars the rights of Government employees of the UT.
“A Government employee sacrifices the prime of his life for the service of the nation and expects that his pension will protect him from the financial burden in his post-retirement life,” they said.
The Front said that the pensionary benefits are the only hope for the employees when they retire from Government services. “They have to grapple with odds in their old age which is marked by the abandonment, and other issues”, the Front added.
They said that the only hope of their financial security was snatched from them a decade ago when the defined pension benefits were stopped for all employees who joined after January 2020 and NSP was started by the decision of the then Government.
The Front leaders urged upon the Central Government as well as the LG administration to revisit the decision of the earlier Government and scrap the NPS as this has taken away the rights of Central and UT Government employees to have pensions and family pensions.
They also demanded the continuation of voluntary GPF contribution for NPS employees which was recently stopped by the UT Administration.
