JKPSA highlights demands, issues of private schools

JAMMU, Mar 19: An urgent meeting of central body of J&K Private Schools Association was held here today along with district heads of Jammu division under the chairmanship of Kamal Gupta, President JKPSA for highlighting issues and demands of the members.
General Secretary of the Association, Ajay Gupta highlighted agenda of the meeting, which included allocation of collective budget for the School and Higher Education Sector by the Government of India for the year 2021-22 J&K UT, prohibiting from enhancing of any fee after a gap of two years viz tuition fee, annual fee, bus fee during the academic session 2021-22 and adoption of delay tactics for the regulation and enhancement of fee of private schools by Committee for Fixation and Regulation of Fee of Private Schools (FFRC) etc.
Members condemned the irrational attitude of the officers sitting at the helm. They said that quashing all prevailing orders without publishing new quantum for the collection of fee has exposed the ill will of the Government , which seems hell-bent to discourage all those who are solely dependent and have voluntarily jumped into this venture.
“It is suspected that the Government of J&K UT will not give any type of benefit to private schools although the Centre has made an allocation of about Rs 1,873 crore for the year 2021-22 which is Rs 523 crore more than the previous year budget allocation for the School and Higher Education Sector,” they said.
Members unanimously appealed to the Lt Governor of J&K UT to diversify the allocated fund for utilization for private schools which were the worse sufferer during the pandemic to curb the menace of corruption and to generate a transparent mechanism.
President of the Association Kamal Gupta demanded immediate restoration of order No. 01 of FFC of 28.01.2019 so that schools can enhance fee at least @ 6% in academic session 2021-22 after a lapse of 2 years to pay increments to their teaching and non teaching staff. He also demanded immediate vaccination for the teaching and non teaching staff members.
