VIC on ‘Smart Policing’ concludes at Police Academy

UDHAMPUR, Mar 13: Three- day Vertical Interaction Course (VIC) on “Smart Policing”, which was inaugurated at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur by Sujit Kumar, DIG Udr/Reasi Range, concluded today.
A total of 17 officers of the rank DySP to Sr SP participated in the course. Smart policing programme is primarily a concept of combination of intelligent implementation of innovations in policing technology while at the same time incorporating it with existing policies. The course was aimed at to encourage frequent deliberations among the senior police officers regarding the maximum use of technology in the crime detection/investigation, strict implementation of laws, developing attitude and responsibility toward general public, etc.
During these three days, deliberations were made on various topics like Concept of Smart Policing, Community Policing, Police Public Interface, Cyber Crime, Safety of women, Human Trafficking, etc.
The guest speakers who spoke on the said topics and interacted with the officers, participating in the course, included Dr Mahesh Kaul (ICPR), Dr Karan Nathwani (IIT Jammu), Romesh Kotwal (SSP, APCR Jammu), Vinay Kumar, SSP ANTF Jammu), Dr Saurabh Srivastava (SMVDU), Randheer Singh ( SSP), Kamal Sharma (CPO, CID Hqrs), Ashish Rathore (CPO/CLI SKPA) and Insp Rakesh Kumar (Cyber Police Station Jammu).
