Samiti felicitates national awardees for creative writing, translation in Hindi

National awardees for creative writing and translation in Hindi being felicitated by J&K Rashtriya Bhasha Prachar Samiti at K.L. Saigal Hall on Wednesday. -Exelsior/Rakesh

JAMMU, May 15: Jammu and Kashmir Rashtriya Hindi Bhasha Prachar Samiti in a simple but impressive function felicitated three eminent local writers who been honored with national awards for creative writing and translation in Hindi by Kendriya Hindi Nideshalaya (Central Hindi Directorate), Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi.
The awardees included noted Hindi, Sanskrit and Dogri scholar Prof Satya Pal Srivatsya for ‘Boond Boond Smritiyaan’, a translation of Om Vidyarathi’s original Dogri work ‘Trip Trip Chete’, well known Urdu poet Pritpal Singh Betab for his anthology of Gazals titled ‘Shehar-e-Gazal’ and talented poetess Aruna Sharma in category of creative writing for her maiden anthology of poetry in Hindi titled ‘Prithiviyaan’.
Ashok Khajuria, MLA, East Jammu, was the chief guest of the function while Savita Bakshi, Additional Secretary, Culture Academy presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion Prof Satya Pal Srivatsya, who is also the president of the Samiti, said that the  awards called as ‘Hinditar Bhashi Lekhak Puruskars’ are given by Kendriya Hindi Nideshalaya to writers of non-Hindi states who are working for the development of Hindi. He said it was a mater of honour that all awards winners are associated with Jammu and Kashmir Rashtriya Hindi Bhasha Prachar Samiti as its members and advisors.
Today’s function started with Yash Pal Nirmal, Anita Mehta and Rita Kharyal presenting citations on the life and works of three awardees.  It was followed by the play-reading of Rajneesh Gupta’s adaptation\translation of Munshi Premchand’s well-known short story ‘Kafan’.  The play-reading by artistes such as Narang, Umesh Singh, Praveen Sharma, Lakshmi Tagortra and others was highly appreciated by the audience.
Dr Sudhir Mahajan, vice president of the Samiti and well known theatre personality while appreciating the play-reading of ‘Kafan’, also presented a critical appraisal of the story.
Ashok Khajuria and Savita Bakshi also congratulated the award winners and appreciated Samiti for its initiative in recognizing contribution of writers in the field of literature.
