SRINAGAR, May 14: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today emphasized use of latest technology in all productive sectors like agriculture, horticulture and floriculture to increase productivity for better income to the farming community.
The Minister was addressing a Mega Awareness Camp organized by the Department of Horticulture District Baramulla under Horticulture Mission today at Advance Centre for Horticulture, Zangam Pattan. On the occassion cheques were also distributed among the registered horticulturists.
Minister of State for Horticulture, Agriculture and Floriculture Nazir Ahmad Khan was also present on the occasion.
Minister for Horticulture, Mr. Bhalla said that the peace is imperative for the overall and sustained development of the State and people should understand its importance, adding that people are now reaping its dividends in the form of socio-economic upliftment and rapid development.
Referring to the achievements registered by the Department of Horticulture, Mr. Bhalla said that during the last financial year, crores of rupees as incentives have been provided to the fruit growers for improving their fruit productivity.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nazir Gurezi said that the horticulture is among the priorities of Government and urged growers to avail benefits from the schemes launched by the Government.
Mr. Gurezi stressed for launching awareness campaigns in rural areas to aware general masses about the policies and programmes of the Government.
A large number of farmers attended the camp and interacted with experts from Department of Horticulture who guided them regarding adoption of latest technologies and interventions to maximize yield and returns.
Later, Mr. Bhalla and Mr. Gurezi distributed cheques worth Rs. 91.65 lakh among growers of Baramulla and Rs. 12 lakh among growers of Ganderbal district to add to the efficiency of fruit growers under horticulture sector in Kashmir division.
Earlier, the Ministers inaugurated the Drip Irrigation facility developed for High Density Apple Plantation. They also inspected the Hi-Tech Green Houses, wherein 11000 Kiwi and Grape plants are propagated through cuttings.
Director Horticulture Kashmir, Sonam Nurboo, Chief Horticulture Officer Baramulla and Ganderbal, representatives from KSETI Baramulla president Fruit Growers Association Baramulla and Media personnel were also present on the occasion.
