JAMMU, May 9: Students of 11th and 12th classes of Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar today held a massive demonstration inside the educational institution seeking dismissal of a school teacher Rakesh Verma, who was allegedly involved in molestation of 12th class school girl (identity kept secret) at a private tutorial at Gandhi Nagar.
The students demanded that the school management should dismiss the teacher immediately as their colleague has refused to come to the institute as she felt scared and humiliated after the incident.
Reports said Rakesh Verma was teaching Math to students of 11th and 12th classes, both in Presentation Convent as well as at a private tutorial at Gandhi Nagar.
He molested a 12th class girl at the tutorial.
As the girl informed her parents, they went to the tutorial and took the teacher to task. However, afraid of exposure, they didn’t lodge a report with police station.
Reports said the molested student refused to come to the school as she was scared of the teacher. The students today held demonstration inside the school premises seeking dismissal of the teacher.
Reports added that instead of taking action against the teacher, the authorities adopted the dictatorial approach and warned the protesting students that they would be dismissed if they resorted to protests again.
