JAMMU, Dec 23: To commemorate the “Dogri Manayata Diwas” Nami Dogri Sanstha organised a “Multi-lingual e – Kavi Goshthi” wherein poets from Dogri, Punjabi , Hindi , Urdu and English languages participated covering vast range of subjects like patriotism , environment , Corona pandemic , romance , social evils , political perspectives and social concerns etc .
The poetry comprised lyrics, poems, gazals and Chamukhe. Capt Lalit Sharma, Convener NDS, conceived, planned and supervised the programme, which was conducted by Yash Pal Yash, General Secretary of NDS who also presided over the literary meet.
The poets who participated included; Dr Sushil Bhola, Savita Bakshi, Kalpana Gupta “Rattan”, Sudershan Kumari, Tarsem Mahajan, Arun Sharma Banathia, Shambu Ram Pyasa, Sunaina Kaila, Neelam Verma Mahotra, Shallu Uppal Nargotra, Dr Ram Gupta, Jatinder Jolly, Amarjit Kour “Neer”, K D Koul “Mehboob”, Chaman Lal Sagoch, Usha Kiran Kiran, Dr Poonam Sharma, Ram Pal Dogra, B S Jamwal and Kusum Sharma “Antra”.
Others, who participated, included Prof Anupama Sharma, Ram Kishore Uppal, Group Captain Dupinder Singh, Dr Chanchal Sharma, Kalpana Gupta, Savita Sharma, Ramesh Nirash and Nidhi Kaila Choudhary.
Dogra Harish Kaila, President NDS, greeted entire Dogra fraternity on the eve of “Dogri Bhasha Manayata Diwas” and appealed to all the Dogras to take a pledge on this day to promote, strengthen and propagate Dogri language and Duggar culture.
Yash Pal Yash, in his presidential address, said that mother tongue Dogri automatically empowers our children to fast learn the other languages, unify us, maintain our identity, strengthen our bondage with nature and mother earth besides giving us a sense of pride and self respect. He appealed the Government to make Dogri language compulsory at school level in consonance with the provisions of new national education policy.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Ram Pal Dogra.
