Infiltration bids

Border Security Force has a tough job to do not only on LoC but also on International Border in Jammu and Kashmir. There is no relenting in the effort of infiltrators from Pakistani side to sneak into Indian side whenever and wherever they can. Repeated efforts by the Indian authorities to bring home to Pakistani counterparts that no major or minor bid of crossing the border or LoC will be tolerated does not make any impact on them. Their patent reply is that they do not open fire and then add that the militants might be doing so. The militants are recruited and trained and then armed and directed by the army or the ISI. Pakistani Rangers cannot claim that the militants are operating independently. A number of instances in which exchange of messages between the militants and their masters in the ISI have been intercepted and recorded by the Indian security forces have been brought to the notice of the Rangers. But as we know denial is their culture and they want to hide behind that shield.
Recently two groups of armed infiltrates moving suspiciously along the International Border in Ramgarh area in Samba were detected by the BSF jawans. These people were making surveillance of the area and trying to select a point wherefrom they would infiltrate. This, they thought, would be facilitated by the thick and long grass that covers the entire belt of the dividing line. But three cheers to our Border Security Force that kept long and discreet vigil all along the vulnerable points on the borer and thwarted the attempt of the infiltrators. In all probability, BSF seniors believe that one infiltrator was killed in the firing that had opened at dawn.
Simultaneously, in Kupwara sector also, the Army has stepped up surveillance of the entire forest belt as they suspect some Pakistani infiltrators armed and well equipped are hiding somewhere in the forest. A massive search has been launched by the security forces to track them down. These two incidents happening in one week clearly indicate that the masters and mentors of infiltrating jihadis show no sign of relent.  Pakistan’s effort to sneak in groups of militants and through them destabilize peace in the valley continues with as much determination as has been seen in the past. We should expect their bids to continue as there is no change of heart in that country and the army and its ISI are law unto themselves especially at a time when Pakistani civilian government is busy with general elections in that country.
The worst thing about infiltration bids is that the anti-Indian elements have developed moles within Kashmirian society at various levels that give sharp edge to their anti-India campaign. The recent arrest of a police cop with three other accomplices in Srinagar shows that the militants have created a network through which they operate other than coming into direct conflict with the BSF or other security forces. The cache of arms obtained from the arrested four persons is a clear proof that militancy still maintains its hold in certain parts of the valley.
In this scenario, one should understand the nature of task on which the jawans of Security Forces are deployed. Thanks to the sense of patriotism and realization of the responsibility coming down on their shoulders, one can say that the Forces are doing their best to help maintain peace all along the region. It has most modern mechanism of surveillance and check up along a porous border and the officers and ORs deserve appreciation for their alertness to thwart bad intentions of the militants and take them unawares. The BSF soldiers have even captured a Pakistani trying to enter the Indian side clandestinely in Ramgarh sector. He was carrying electric power tester and in all probability he wanted to test if the mesh wire fixed all along the border fence is carrying the electric current or not. Otherwise what was the purpose of carrying the tester?
A wolf may lose its teeth but not its nature, is the old axiom. Though Pakistan rulers are saying that they are interested in bilateral talks with India to resolve outstanding issues, the reality is that various shades of political forces in Pakistan do not want to put an end to Kashmir conflict.
