SRINAGAR, May 8: Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday today underlined the need to settle all land acquisition and compensation issues for early completion of several prestigious road and fly over projects in Srinagar and Jammu cities and other places.
Chairing the periodic meeting of Committee of Secretaries, Mr Khanday said that issues hampering early start and completion of projects must be resolved urgently and concerned Secretaries should visit the sites to get first hand appraisal to address matters restricting construction process and submit reports about the progress achieved.
Chief Secretary while referring to the education sector called for filling up existing posts with directions to expedite the process of referring vacancies to the PSC and SSRB for early recruitment. He also directed concerned Secretaries to monitor the pace of work on the under construction colleges, polytechnic, ITIs and school buildings and report the progress regularly.
Mr. Khanday during the meeting also received brief about relief and rehabilitation measures undertaken for the welfare of the people in recent earthquake hit areas of the State.
Matters pertaining to vacancies in different departments, overlapping of jurisdiction in different districts, SMS based monitoring of progress in R&B, PHE and PDD, filling up of created posts in newly created districts, saffron mission, RFD etc were also taken up with the concerned secretaries during the meeting.
Meanwhile, Forest Advisory Committee headed by Chief Secretary, discussed and approved several proposals for allowing use of forest land coming in the alignment of road projects and other development works in various Forest Divisions across the State.
Chief Secretary laid emphasis on eco-restoration of identified muck dumping sites and compensatory afforestation and plantation along the road alignments to minimize impact on the forest environment and defacing of mountains.
He directed Forest Department to monitor the user agency and ensure that identified dumping sites are made use of and soil erosion checked due to proposed road development works.
Financial Commissioner Revenue, Dr Arun Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Forest, Sheikh Ejaz Iqbal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Vinod Ranjan and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
