REASI, May 8: Enrolment for Universal Identification Number and National Population Register will be launched in Reasi on May 15.
This was stated by the District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary while chairing a meeting of all sectoral officers to finalise arrangements for establishment of enrolment centers and mobilization of resources. A comprehensive publicity plan was also finalized for coverage of maximum population. In order to ensure 100% coverage of population above 15 years the district has been divided into nine charge areas to be headed by respective registrars designated by the DDC.
The DDC informed the officers that 3-5 machines will be established in each enrolment centre and each machine will enroll 60-70 persons a day. It was conveyed that enrolment will be done at Panchayat level or cluster of contiguous habitations of different Panchayats to avoid overcrowding of centers.
Rural Development Department and Education Department were directed to identify the buildings to be designated as enrolment centers where Power Department will ensure uninterrupted power supply. Chief medical Officer was directed to ensure availability of first aid kit and ORS kits at all the centers as a large.
It was decided that to ensure wider publicity of the enrolment process meetings of Sarpanchs and Panchs will be organized at Block level and awareness programme for Numberdars and Chowkidars of the district will be conducted by respective Tehsildars this week. Police Department was directed for sufficient security for movement of teams and at the locations of enrolment centers. Officials of SMVDU and NHPC Project Salaal assured that full coverage of students, faculty and officials will bme ensured. Registrars were asked to take into account nomadic population having migrated so that respective Deputy Commissioners are asked for their enrolment.
The DDC impressed upon the officials to translate the UID enrolment guidelines in Urdu and Hindi which will be pasted in all Government offices and Panchayats for better understanding of general public.
