166 Military Hospital observes World Asthma Day

JAMMU, May 8: On the occasion of World Asthma Day, 166 Military Hospital organized an annual event to aware their clientele about Asthma. The theme of the day was “ It’s time to control your Asthma”.
President AWWA White Knight Corps, Rashmi Hooda accompanied by Brig Pawan Kapoor, Brig Medical, White Knight Corps, paid visit to 166 Military Hospital to interact with Asthmatic Children and their parents, today. She was received by Sushma Harjai, Convenor of Family Welfare Organisation, 166 Military Hospital and Brigadier Man Mohan Harjai, Commandant of the Hospital.
Renowned paediatricians, Col Shashi Bhushan and Major Badal briefed Hooda on the various use of Asthma care related medical equipments.
During the event “The useful information on bronchial Asthma was provided to the target audience, patients and parents of affected children in the form of parent friendly Asthma diary. All Asthma suspected patients were thoroughly evaluated with advanced tests i.e. pulmonary function test and were offered free consultation by specialists.
The Commandant of the Hospital, Brig Harjai said, “The proper medication can help in controlling Asthma, but in India it has been found that compliance to asthma medication is very poor and tends to falter after few months in both children and adults. Our hospital runs a weekly Asthma clinic on Wednesdays in Paediatric OPD and provides comprehensive care including monitoring of lung functions and motivates children for appropriate use of Asthma devices”.
A Poster competition was also organised by the Hospital on the theme World Asthma Day. The prizes for the best three posters were awarded to the winners by Rashmi Hooda. The entire function was anchored by Maj Deepti.
