25 fresh PoK guests among 53 cross sides on LoC in Uri sector

SRINAGAR :  Twenty five fresh guests from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here this afternoon while only eight Kashmiris cross over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives, separated in 1947.
As many as 23 returnees also crossed sides at Kaman post, the last Indian military post, in Uri sector in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
Official sources said here this afternoon that 25 PoK residents arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot. They included seven women and two children.
This was the highest number of PoK guests, visiting the Kashmir valley to meet their relatives in 2013. The earlier highest was 17 on April 22 and 29.
The number of PoK residents goes down during winters when the temperature goes below the freezing temperature in Kashmir. However, with the improvement in weather, the number of PoK guests increases.
They said 16 Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK, also returned after completing stay their with relatives, separated in 1947.
Source said eight Kashmir is, including two women and as many child also crossed over to PoK to meet their  relatives.
Seven guests, who were here, also returned to their homes, they said adding they included three women.
So far 110 PoK residents had visited the Valley while  146 from here had crossed over to other side during 2013 in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating since April 7,2005 between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK. (AGENCIES)
