The traffic congestion in Jammu city is definitely a problem due to which general public is facing a lot many hardships.
The traffic congestion can be tackled by making a slight change in the office and school timings both for ”pull-aar and pull,-par” keeping a gap of at least one hour and also keeping in view of the scorching heat of afternoon and biting cold in winter for school going children. The wrong parking of the vehicles is dealt with stern actions such as huge fine, confinement and confiscation of the vehicles. Every citizen should take the responsibility of complaining against wrong driving, wrong parking of vehicles, at the will of driver/owner by registering a written complaint in the nearby police station and then it becomes the duty of the police to deal with the matter seriously and promptly and a visible change will be gauged by the general public otherwise people generally blame police department for the same which is not true. This is upto the general masses to maintain law and order and not the police departments A committee of expert engineers should be constituted by the Government which will formulate, a proposal for construction of flyovers and subways on very economical but technically bearable basis to deal with the traffic congestion.
The matador drivers are the worst in creating the traffic congestion and abrupt accidents; here police can play a positive role by booking reckless drivers under traffic laws.
Negligent rash driving overtaking are the main cause of accidents in which precious lives are lost, who for the same is responsible, is it me or you ? It can be avoided if we adhere to traffic rules, observe, road signs and use road sense. It is the general public who form the Government. We have to cooperate with the Government and its agencies that are responsible for the management of the traffic and not curse it. So the need of the hour is discipline, honest walking, honest talking and honest behaviour, which can solve the problem in general.
Parking on the roadside is the compulsion on the general public as there is a dearth of parking lots in the city. The Government can build multilevel parking lots by collecting funds from the intending persons on the pattern adopted by the multi-storeyed flat builders all over India and this will enable the Government to go ahead with the proposal.
* At last, I request the general public to adhere to the traffic rules, so that half of the problem is itself dealt with.
