Rs 76.49 crore spent under RKVY: Dr Samoon

SRINAGAR, May 3: An amount of Rs 76.49 crore has been spent during 2012-13, under Centrally Sponsored Scheme Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) for the promotion of Agriculture and allied sectors in J&K.
This was disclosed during a meeting held by Commissioner Secretary Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon to review the performance under the programme. The head of Departments of Agriculture and allied departments attended the meeting.
He also discussed the current year’s plan under this flagship programme.
Dr Samoon said that, out of Rs 76.49 crore, Rs 21 crore were spent under normal RKVY, Rs 43.94 crore under National Mission on Saffron, Rs 6.45 crore under Vegetable Initiative Scheme for Urban Cluster, Rs 5.08 crore under National Mission on Protein Supplementation for Live stock and Fish.
Commissioner Secretary urged the officers to implement the scheme in a mission mode to ensure desired results on ground. He asked the sectoral officers to prepare the current year’s plan with 10 per cent step up of the last year’s outlay, so that is presented before the State level committee for approval.
Dr Samoon underscored the need of constitution of various committees comprising of experts from SKUAST-Kashmir/Jammu, Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, National Horticulture Board and Mechanical Engineering Department for monitoring various sub-projects like Spice Park, Production of Root Stock for Horticulture Sector etc.
