JAMMU, Nov 28: A suspended Civil Secretariat employee was stabbed to death by a man at Rehari Pully area here this evening.
As per police sources, a suspended Civil Secretariat employee identified as Shabir Ahmed (42), son of late Ghulam Nabi of Ustaad Mohalla was stabbed with a sharp edged weapon by Gurpreet Singh (driver by profession), son of Inderjeet Singh, a resident of Sector 10 Nanak Nagar at Rehari Pully in the evening hours. Accused Gurpreet Singh after stabbing Shabir Ahmed escaped from the spot.
While being shifting to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for treatment, the injured person succumbed to his injuries.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of GMCH Jammu for autopsy, which will be conducted tomorrow.
A case FIR Number 148/2020 under relevant sections including 4/25 Indian Arms Act was registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and hunt was launched to nab the stabber.
Police party comprising SHO Pacca Danga Inspector Ajit Singh and Incharge Police Post Rehari SI Shakeel Ahmed conducted raids in the probable places and after hectic efforts in coordination with SHO Gandhi Nagar were able to arrest the accused under the supervision and guidance of SDPO North City Satish Kumar.
Crime scene has been preserved, vital evidences were gathered and further investigation in the matter is going on.
