BILLAWAR, Apr 24: A one-day free medical check up was held here today at Hari Prabhu Ashray, Nagrota of Gujjar Teshsil by a renowned child specialist from Jammu with a view to provide better health care facilities in the remote and rural areas.
During the camp, the child specialist, Dr KB Gupta, checked up 155 children hailing from far flung hilly area of Tehsil Billawar, Basholi and Ramnagar and provided free medicines to them.
Meanwhile, Dogri Sanstha organized a Kavi Sammelan at the Ashray, wherein many poets, writers and singers of the Sanstha including Prof Lalit Mangotra, president, Prof Veena Gupta, general secretary, Parduman Singh vice president, recited their poems and songs.
On the occasion, Hari Prabhu Sabha honoured Prof Sat Pal Shrivastas for translation of Dogri Book for Non-Hindi areas. The Sanstha also extended financial assistance for the marriages of poor and orphan girl.
