JAMMU, Sept 23: Two persons including a trainee doctor were killed and a police constable was injured in three separate road accidents occurred today in city outskirts.
According to a police official, Dr Zahid Anjum (25) son of Abdul Qayoom, resident of Fatehpur Rajouri and presently living at PG Boys Hostel, Bakshi Nagar (Jammu), was hit and severely injured by a speedy car bearing registration number JK02CE-6212 on Sidhra road near Sunshine Hotel this evening when he was standing beside his bike parked along the road.
“The injured was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors,” the official said, adding, the accused driver namely Akash Chalgotra was arrested and his vehicle seized while a case in this connection was registered against him at police station Nagrota and further investigation started.
Meanwhile, an oil tanker bearing registration number JK02BN-3509 this afternoon hit a horse cart near Narwal Sabzi Mandi and seriously injured the man on horse cart. The injured man namely Taj Din (45) son of Qasim Din, resident of Karyani Talab (Narwal) was rushed to GMC Jammu but doctors there declared him as brought dead.
In this connection, Trikuta Nagar police has registered a case and started investigation while the accused tanker driver namely Surinder Singh son of Shanker Singh, resident of Model Town (Gangyal, Jammu) was arrested and his vehicle seized.
Another accident occurred at Suketar Tarah Morh in Jhajjar Kotli area where a speedy car hit a bike and severely injured its rider namely Constable Hassan Din of J&K Police (posted with Anti-Corruption Judge Chain Lal, Janipur, Jammu) son of Mir Baksh, resident of Tarah Dansal.
Jhajjar Kotli police had taken cognizance of the matter while the injured cop was shifted to GMC Jammu for medical treatment.
