IGP discusses by-polls, COVID with DIGs, SSPs

JAMMU, Sept 17: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh convened a meeting through video conference with Range DIGs and District SSPs of Jammu in order to discuss the issues related to By-Polls of Panchayat Election, COVID-19 situation, latest trends of militancy and other general issues of Jammu province.
During meeting, a detailed briefing was given by the IGP Jammu Zone related to various inputs/trends regarding attempts to revive militancy in Jammu Region and other measures required to be taken by district SSPs especially to strengthen the intelligence network, prevention of infiltration and prevention of smuggling of weapons from across the border.
Range DIGs and District SSPs of Jammu Zone briefed IGP Jammu Zone with regard to overall security scenario, forthcoming By-Polls of Panchayat Election, COVID-19 situation and other terror related activities and measures initiated by them to deal with these issues.
Mukesh Singh, IGP Jammu, directed district SSPs to closely monitor the investigation of terror related cases so that these cases are challaned in the court of law in time bound manner and wherever required necessary sanction is obtained from the Government within the prescribed time limit.
He also appreciated the efforts of SSP Rajouri and SSP Poonch in their efforts regarding seizure of huge quantity of narcotics in that area. Besides, this, the efforts of SSP Samba and SSP Poonch were lauded with regard to the recent seizure of arms and ammunition. Two special teams were constituted to suggest ways and means to improve the functioning of police and the effectiveness of nakas.
On the issue of general policing matters emphasis was given on COVID management, prevention of illegal mining, speedy redressal of grievances and developing a database of criminals in order to formulate a cohesive strategy to deal with them.
