POONCH, Sept 8: A labourer working with a private company installing electric towers in district Poonch, died while digging large pits in Lathoong area of Surankote Sub Division today.
A police spokesman said that 55-year-old poor labourer, Abdul Majeed, son of Nav Joo, a resident of Seri Khawaja in Surankote, was engaged in digging job for raising electric towers by the company. Due to land sliding, stones/mulba hit his dead and he was killed on the spot. He was not provided safety gears like others by the company while at work, the police said.
The body was shifted to Surankote hospital for postmortem. The police has taken cognizance of the matter. Further investigation was in progress.
