KATHUA, Sept 8: Lakhanpur police today arrested two persons for allegedly issuing fake movement passes in lieu of money from people entering Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said the duo was arrested at Lakhanpur corridor along the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.
“They were accepting money for making illegal dispatch passes for persons entering the Union Territory. A number of dispatch slips were recovered from their possession,” police added.
A case under relevant sections of law was registered against them and further investigation is on, police said.
Police said on getting information that some persons are providing fake COVID-19 -ve test reports, a team of Police Station, Lakhanpur led by Inspector Sanjeev Singh Chib, SHO Police Station Lakhanpur set a trap to arrest the persons involved in issuance of fake reports.
The arrested persons included Romal Singh, alias Pappu son of Sansar Chand of Karroh from tehsil and district Kathua presently working as Chowkidar Sale Tax Department Lakhanpur and Vijay Kumar, son of Rattan Chand of Dhanore tehsil and district Kathau a volunteer computer operator at COVID Centre Lakhanpur.
Police said during their sustained questioning the duo confessed their involvement in issuance of fake passes and also admitted that they were doing the same for last few days.
In this regard a case FIR No 80/2020 U/S 420/188/269/270 IPC was registered at Police Station Lakhanpur and further investigation in the case is going on.
The movement passes are necessary for inter-State and inter-provincial movement in Jammu and Kashmir since the outbreak of Corona virus in March.
