JAMMU, Aug 31: Doctors of District Hospital Samba staged a protest against the administration and police for their failure in providing security as well as against their inefficiency in taking strict action against the culprits who mobbed into the emergency premises of DH Samba and threatened to burn the hospital and ambulances, an incident which was reported to the police authorities yesterday.

After a gap of 24 hours, when no legal action was taken against the culprits, doctors from District Hospital Samba staged a protest and raised slogans such as ‘Gundagardi nhai chalegi’ . The protesting doctors refuted the allegation that a heart attack patient was made wait for a long time due to non availability of ambulance and said that ambulance arrived within 15 minutes and the whole process took 25- 30 minutes right from first aid to referral of the patient.
On duty Medical Officer while addressing the media persons clearly stated that a mob entered into emergency violating social distancing guidelines and threatened the doctor.
Doctors also demanded that strict and stern action should be taken against the culprit and FIR should be lodged and also requested the medical authorities to increase the security of the doctors with CAPF personnel as such incidents are often reported in hospital where miscreants misbehave with doctors and staff on duty without having fear of caught by the police authorities.
Meanwhile, President of Doctors Association, Jammu, Dr Balvinder Singh appealed to Director General of Police to kindly intervene and take strict action against those who are taking law in their hands and provide security to doctors in all Government hospitals in the UT.
However, Sarpanch and other protesters said that the people suffer in the hospital due to irresponsible approach of the Hospital administration.
