JAMMU, Aug 31: A delegation of Civil Society members led by Rajesh Padgotra (provincial president, JKNPP) met the Registrar, Central University of Jammu (CUJ) and through a memorandum submitted to him appealed to immediately stop Anti-Dogra policies in the Varsity.
Padgotra alleged that Vice Chancellor, CUJ with whimsical and dictatorial attitude against Dogras has implemented arbitrary policy by reducing the salaries of Dogra contractual young faculties in August, 2019 who were teaching in CUJ from last seven years and were getting the full grade pay as per the UGC regulations.
He alleged that not only VC reduced the salaries of Dogra Contractual faculty but also replaced some of them with non-Dogras against the Supreme Court judgment which says contractual cannot be replaced by other contractual.
The delegation also demanded that preference should be given to local deserving youth from the surrounding areas in the employment over people from outside and from other regions of the UT. Alleging that the rain water of the University and its catchment area is devastating the land of locals, he demanded that proper drainage system be made to redress and mitigate their grievances.
The JKNPP leader said that the University should immediately get its own receiving station to avoid electricity fluctuations, load and low voltage on the existing receiving station at Rahya due to heavy consumption in the University itself. It further demands easy passage should be given to the local people who have their residential and agricultural lands across the University.
Alleging that nothing concrete has been done by the university authorities for the development of the some villages in Samba district and Secondary School of Rahya adopted by the Varsity, he demanded an annual roster of activities in the adopted villages to be created and adhered to, and the Rahya school be managed and run in accordance with the guidelines of KV Sangathan.
Rajesh Padgotra demanded that a separate school be set up in Varsity for promoting vocational education such as Fashion Technology and Apparel Designing, Web Technologies, Health Care, Software Development, Fine Arts extra and the students who have already been enrolled into the courses be provided all the facilities as approved by the UGC.
