JAMMU, Aug 30: Expressing concern over the way the Central Government has given all kinds of powers to the Lt. Governor, the Congress has strongly demanded restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Former Jammu Municipal Corporation chairman and senior Congress leader Satish Sharma said that the kind of attitude the Central Government and BJP are adopting towards Jammu and Kashmir, one thing becomes clear that the BJP has nothing to do with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said it has now become clear that the BJP is not interested in giving full statehood status to Jammu and Kashmir, but the people of J&K want full statehood.
Taking a dig at the BJP, Satish said that not a single person from Jammu and Kashmir had ever demanded UT, but the Central government imposed UT upon J&K people. He said that if the BJP and the Central Government do not give full statehood to the Jammu and Kashmir, this time the people will take to the streets.
He said unemployment is on the rise, people are upset due to Corona, young people are not getting employment, they are not getting proper treatment in hospitals, farmers are suffering. The common people are not being heard by the Babus because there is no elected Government in Jammu and Kashmir.
