Restoration of cremation ground land demanded

JAMMU, Aug 30: Kashmiri Pandit organizations including Samajik Vikas Sansthan have urged the administration in Kashmir to get vacated the encroachment from the land of a cremation ground at village Onthibhawan in Vichar Nag area of Soura in Srinagar district of Central Kashmir which has been grabbed by an influential person.
The KP organizations said that over five marlas of land belonging to cremation ground have been encroached by an influential person in the area and despite the directives of the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir to concerned authorities to get the encroachment vacated from the land nothing has been done in this regard till date.
The KP bodies said that though the district administration had given an assurance and deputed the tehsildar for removing the encroachment and restoration of land to cremation ground but nothing was done till date.
Sunil Raina a social activist has made an appeal to Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir urging him to issue immediate directives to the concerned authorities to get the land vacated from the clutches of the encroacher. He also demanded that the land of other Hindu shrines which has been encroached by the anti social elements be vacated immediately.
