Sir,
Right from start of militancy in J&K during 1989-90, Village Defence Committees and Special Police Officers have been doing a yeoman’s service by dint of dedication and utmost bravery. They are posted at a remote and inaccessible areas to safeguard masses. They participate in forest operations despite hunger and thirst, but get only three thousand rupees per month.
They are transferred from one sensitive area to another area to get 24 hours service from them. But the State Govt has failed to realize the hardships and difficulties of SPOs. It has become very difficult for them to make two ends out of their meager salary in this era of soaring prices.
Keeping in view their plight, it is requested to the concerned authorities to raise their salary and other perks and privilege so that they too can live a dignified life.
SPO’s are rendering the duties of a highly paid constable today. They should be allowed to do additional work for additional income at their home town.
Yours etc….
